THE MASHANTUCKET PEQUOT FIREWORKS EXTRAVAGANZA (9:15 pm)

When the skies over the Thames River ignite on July 12, it marks the continuation of a cherished legacy. The Mashantucket Pequot Fireworks Extravaganza stands as Connecticut’s largest and one of New England’s most significant displays, drawing crowds of 350,000 in some years. This tradition dates back to 1981, and it has become a beloved annual event.

A transformative moment arrived in 1993 when The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation began its sponsorship, transforming it into a “world class pyrotechnic production” by Garden State Fireworks. The audio-visual extravaganza is fired from the middle of the Thames River and is synchronized to music on Big 100.9 FM. Enjoy listening to songs such as Sweet Caroline and Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue, while enjoying a truly spectacular fireworks display.

“For more than 30 years, the Mashantucket Pequot Fireworks Extravaganza has been a cherished family tradition and the highlight of the summer for thousands of visitors,” said Rodney Butler, Chairman of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation.

The Mashantucket Pequot Fireworks Extravaganza is sponsored by Foxwoods Resort Casino and WONDR Nation. Mohawk Northeast has generously provided a 380 ton barge for the massive fireworks display platform.

The show is approximately 30 minutes and it will start shortly after 9:15pm. Rain date Sunday, July 13th.
